Policemen save heartbroken boyfriend before jumping off bridge
Police officers stopped a distressed boyfriend from jumping off a bridge after an argument with his partner.
Kind officers rescued Phayu Srichankaew, 33, as he prepared to leap into a canal in Bangkok, Thailand on July 7.
The station received a report of the incident around 10.20pm and dispatched four patrol officers.
The squad included Police Captain Worakarn Manyuen, Police Senior Sergeant Major Theeraphong Kasetsin, Police Senior Sergeant Major Preechasart Prakorbsang, and Police Sergeant Thepprasit Buakhok.
They found Phayu sitting on the water pipe and appearing to intend to jump into the canal.
Officers and rescuers persuaded him not to proceed before eventually pulling him to safety. After that, his relative Worachot Srichankaew picked Phayu up and took him back home.
Worakarn said: ‘From what we asked, it seems the reason he tried to jump was because he felt resentful after arguing with his girlfriend.'
