Footage shows violent gusts tearing through Shiyan, Hubei province, as motorists cautiously navigated the roadway amid toppled barricades and scattered debris on July 6.
Authorities said the area was struck by powerful winds reaching level 13 on the Beaufort scale, with a dramatic vortex cloud forming overhead.
A towering tree was also uprooted and crashed into a parked vehicle with a loud bang.
Officials launched a level-three emergency response, deploying more than 300 rescue workers to clear the road and remove hazards.
