Russian boxer electrocuted when he climbs out of ring to celebrate
This is the dangerous moment a Russian boxer was electrocuted when he climbed out of the ring to celebrate.
Ivan Parshikov, 27, had won the 'Weed Boxing Championship' when he touched a pole while leaving the ring, only to be zapped by the electric current.
Footage shows the MMA fighter grabbing the nearby overhead light while exiting the stage on June 22 in Surat Thani, Thailand.
He can be seen momentarily paralysed by the shock, his body stiffening before he collapses onto the edge of the platform.
His coach immediately grabbed his feet as he fell, saving him from plunging hard onto the surface.
Just a moment later, he stood up and walked away as if nothing had happened.
Local media reported that he dislocated his shoulder but recovered two weeks later.
Ivan said: 'The pole with the spotlights turned out to be ungrounded. I wanted to jump from the edge of the ring into the pool, and while climbing to the edge, I grabbed the pole and was electrocuted.
'After the fall, I decided to finish what I had planned. I jumped into the pool, swam a couple of meters, and returned to the ring for the judge to announce my victory.'
The Weed Boxing Championship is a combat sport where boxers consume cannabis before entering the ring, with each match consisting of three rounds lasting three minutes each.
Launched in August 2023 by heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, the inaugural event was held at the Samui International Muay Thai Stadium on Koh Samui Island.
