A car fire in the Lincoln Tunnel, which connects New Jersey and New York City under the Hudson River, caused major traffic delays during Tuesday evening’s rush hour on July 8. The fire broke out in the south tube around 5:40 p.m. and was quickly extinguished. One person was hospitalized, and five others were treated for minor injuries. Delays persisted into the evening, particularly for buses departing from the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The tunnel fully reopened by 8:30 p.m.
