On 7 July in Qingdao, Shandong Province, Ms Jiang returned home after being away for two days and was met with an unbelievable sight—three cartons of eggs in her house had hatched into dozens of chicks, which were running all over the room.

Ms Jiang said, “I heard chirping as soon as I reached the door—when I opened it, I was completely stunned!” By the time she got inside, 40 to 50 chicks had already hatched, with more still emerging from their shells. In total, 70 chicks hatched from 90 eggs.

She believes the recent high temperatures in Qingdao may have accelerated the incubation process. Afterwards, she and her family built a makeshift shelter using old jumpers and fed the chicks with warm rice broth using a syringe.

All the chicks survived and are healthy. Two have been “adopted” as pets by Ms Jiang’s son, while the rest were taken to the family’s hometown to be cared for by her parents.

姜女士介绍说：“走到门口就听见了叫声，开门直接懵了！”她看到时已经孵出了四五十只小鸡，还有一些正在破壳。最终，90个鸡蛋共孵化出了70只小鸡。

姜女士认为，可能是青岛近期高温加速了孵化过程。事后她与家人用旧毛衣搭起临时窝棚，煮好温热的米汤用注射器喂食，照顾这些小鸡。

所有小鸡均健康存活，其中两只被姜女士的儿子“认养”为宠物，其余则由父母带回老家照料。
