Storyline: Industrial tours heat up in Shanghai [Voice_over] In Shanghai, tours of industrial factories and shipyards are popular summertime activities for both student groups, and members of the public. A steady stream of students has been visiting the Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai, touring models of China's first floatplane and ten thousand ton of hydraulic press. [Sound_bite] Li Huanjun, tourist: "After taking this tour, I learned that previously, ships were made using wood and rivets, but now shipbuilding is 'smart'. I can see how the shipbuilding industry has progressed." [Voice_over] In addition to visiting the Chinese research and icebreaking vessel the Xuelong 2, people on the tour are invited to construct a miniature version of the boat out of a paper cut out. Although some guests say it can be more difficult than it looks. [Sound_bite] Jiang Kexin, tourist: "Xuelong is very beautiful and colorful. It's a little difficult to assemble the window." [Voice_over] A manager of the shipyard's tour group said his company is consistently making efforts to attract more visitors. [Sound_bite] Zheng Yongqiang, manager of factory tour, Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co, Ltd.: "We set several tourist attractions, like photo walls. We also build a dock for tourists to see vessels that are under construction." [Voice_over] According to the shipyard, tours of their facility have been ongoing since 2019 with a total of 180,000 visitors, so far.
