Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni welcomed heads of state and government on Thursday morning. After a family photo with delegation leaders, she has officially opened the plenary session with an address. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also arrived in Rome on Wednesday to take part in the conference. Italy and Ukraine co-host the “Conference on the Recovery of Ukraine” (URC2025) on July 10-11 in Rome, bringing together around 5,000 participants from across the globe, the Italian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday. The conference held at the La Nuvola Convention Center, is “the most important international event dedicated to the recovery, reconstruction, and modernization of Ukraine," according to the statement from the ministry. The event will include around 100 government delegations, 40 international organizations including major development banks, 2,000 companies, local authorities, civil society representatives, and over 500 accredited journalists.
