US: Fan-Shaped Lava Fountain Erupts From Kīlauea Summit
United States - July 09, 2025 At approximately 6:30 a.m. HST on July 9, 2025, a fan-shaped lava fountain erupted during episode 28 of the ongoing Kīlauea summit eruption. The eruption was captured from the north rim of Kaluapele, near Kīlauea Overlook inside Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Episode 28 lasted for nine hours, with the final eight hours marked by high lava fountaining. Throughout the episode, the south vent remained inactive and has now been completely buried by new lava deposits.
