US: Black Hawk Rescue At 10100 Feet Saves Injured Hiker Near Decker Peak

United States - July 10, 2025 Decker Peak, Idaho – On July 7, 2025, an HH-60M Black Hawk helicopter crew from the Idaho Army National Guard carried out a high-altitude rescue near Decker Peak. Video from the operation shows a crew member being lowered by hoist to reach an injured hiker and her companion. An Idaho Army National Guard medic assessed the injured hiker at the scene. Both individuals were then hoisted into the helicopter and transported to the airstrip in Stanley, Idaho. At the airstrip, they were transferred to a ground ambulance. The rescue was conducted at an elevation of 10,100 feet. This marks the highest elevation hoist rescue by the Idaho Army National Guard this year. It is also the second highest hoist rescue in the organization's history.
