On July 10, 2025, record-breaking rainfall hit during the evening rush hour, and a waterfall-like leak was seen inside Shinjuku Station, one of Tokyo’s major transit hubs.

Rainfall over 100 mm per hour caused severe flooding in Tokyo and surrounding regions. Roads were submerged, rivers reached flood levels, and emergency alerts were issued.
