A two-year-old girl has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after falling from a third-floor flat.

An ambulance was called shortly after 8.40am on Thursday morning to a flat in a converted mill building on Ingrow Lane in Keighley, West Yorks – eight miles north west of Bradford.

In a statement, West Yorkshire Police said: "It's reported that a two-year-old girl had fallen from a third storey window." "

"The child has been taken to hospital with serious but not believed to be life threatening injuries."

The Rev Dr Tracey Raistrick, vicar of St John's Ingrow, which overlooks the flats, said: "This is obviously deeply traumatic for everyone involved. "

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all those who reached out to help them." "

Yesterday afternoon, Wendy Ashworth, who has run the Take A Way sandwich shop across the road from the scene for 16 years, said: "Nobody seemed to know what happened until all the ambulance and policed arrived this morning."

"It's terrible, especially a child of that age."

"Babies don't seem to panic when they fall. The police have said they're not life threatening injuries."

"That's an absolute godsend. It's extremely sad, but I really, really hope she's all right."
