US, Phoenix: Phoenix Woman and Dog Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash

Phoenix, United States - July 11, 2025 07/11/2025 12:00 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix police and fire department crews responded to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision near the intersection of 51st Avenue and Elwood Street at approximately 12:50 a.m. According to the Phoenix Police Department watch commander at the scene, officers arrived to find a female pedestrian and a dog in the southbound lanes of 51st Avenue, south of Elwood Street. The driver involved in the collision fled the scene prior to the arrival of first responders. Both the woman and the dog were pronounced deceased at the scene by Phoenix Fire Department personnel. Phoenix Police Vehicular Crimes Unit detectives have taken command of the investigation. Detectives are working to identify the hit-and-run vehicle. A hard closure was established for 51st Avenue, spanning from Elwood Street to Broadway Road. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Phoenix Police Department.
