MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Mo. — A high-speed pursuit of a suspect with multiple outstanding warrants ended in a crash Wednesday morning after a multi-agency effort spanning several Missouri counties and highways.

The chase began in northern Missouri and continued southbound on U.S. Highway 63 before heading east on Interstate 70. Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop B initially terminated the pursuit near a construction zone due to safety concerns. Minutes later, Montgomery County deputies spotted the suspect’s black Volkswagen Taos and attempted a traffic stop near mile marker 176.

The driver accelerated past 100 mph, weaving through traffic and exiting at High Hill. After briefly losing control and nearly hitting a patrol vehicle, the suspect re-entered the interstate. At mile marker 184, Jonesburg Police successfully deployed spike strips. Despite two punctured tires, the suspect continued onto State Highway B, eventually crashing into a cornfield.

The 24-year-old man from St. Louis was taken into custody with minor injuries. He is being held without bond on multiple charges, including aggravated fleeing, careless driving, and driving without a valid license.
