A dramatic fire broke out on the 41.25-metre superyacht Sea Lady II on Thursday evening while it was docked in the Port of Saint-Tropez.

Video filmed by Gary Sturrock and X user @rebec34 captured the intense blaze. Gary said, “Oh my goodness! We just witnessed a luxury yacht Sea Lady II on fire in Port of Saint-Tropez.”

Smoke was first reported shortly after 20:00 local time. The flames started at the bow and quickly spread to the lower decks of the vessel, previously known as D’Angleterre II.

Two crew members, aged 24 and 35, were rescued from the yacht and are reported to be suffering from smoke inhalation.

Firefighters managed to bring the worst of the fire under control by midnight. However, crews faced challenges boarding the vessel. Nearby yachts were moved away as a precaution, and anti-pollution barriers were deployed in the water to prevent environmental damage.

Sea Lady II was built in 1986 by W.A. Souter & Sons. The yacht was designed by Don Shead Yacht Design with interiors by Frédéric Mechiche.

The vessel accommodates up to 10 guests in five staterooms. It remains unclear if anyone else was on board when the fire started.

Featuring an aluminium hull and superstructure, the yacht is powered by twin Caterpillar engines and has a cruising speed of 12 knots with a top speed of 16 knots.
