WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — A Utah Natural Resources Law Enforcement Ranger and a bystander are credited with saving the life of a woman trapped under a bridge on the Provo River.

The incident occurred June 28 near the “Trestle Bridge,” where a 45-year-old woman on a paddleboard became stuck beneath the structure. The Ranger, who was on patrol, entered the 55-degree water and—alongside a nearby citizen—held the woman’s head above water for approximately 30 minutes until she was freed.

Wasatch County Search and Rescue and Emergency Medical Services responded and provided medical care to all involved. The Utah DNR praised the selfless efforts of the rescuers and reminded visitors to practice water safety, including wearing life jackets and researching river conditions before recreating.
