Los Angeles, United States - July 12, 2025 07/11/2025 05:34 pm GMT-0700 PIRU, VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. – California Highway Patrol Officer Ryan Ayers of the Moorpark office gives an update on the violent crash that claimed two lives on Highway 126 between Santa Clarita and Piru in Ventura County. PIRU, VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. – A violent head-on collision on Highway 126 between Santa Clarita and Piru left two people dead and several others seriously injured Friday evening, including one man who reportedly suffered a severed leg. The crash occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. when a crossover SUV and a full-size SUV collided at high speed, leaving both vehicles with catastrophic damage to their driver compartments. First responders from both Los Angeles and Ventura counties arrived to find a chaotic scene with multiple people trapped inside the wreckage. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. One person was pronounced dead at a hospital. Firefighters worked urgently to free the injured. One of the drivers, whose left leg appeared to be severed in the crash, was airlifted to a trauma center by helicopter. At least four people were transported by ground ambulance to local hospitals, while two more were treated on scene for less serious injuries. The California Highway Patrol’s Moorpark office is leading the investigation into the cause of the deadly collision. Highway 126 was closed in both directions for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene and investigators documented the crash.
