Los Angeles, United States - July 12, 2025 07/12/2025 02:20 am GMT-0700 WOODLAND HILLS, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A California Highway Patrol sergeant from the Ventura area office pulled over a pickup truck driver for exceeding speeds of 90 mph in a construction zone on the southbound 101 Freeway, north of the State Beaches exit. During the initial traffic stop, the driver fled, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit. The driver continued southbound on the 101 Freeway at excessive speeds while CHP Ventura officers remained in pursuit. The chase progressed until units from CHP Moorpark took over near the Los Angeles County line. The driver then continued at high speeds until CHP West Valley deployed a spike strip at DeSoto Avenue in Woodland Hills. The spike strip successfully blew the front right tire of the pickup truck, forcing the suspect to exit at Winnetka Avenue, where the vehicle came to a stop. The driver was taken into custody without further incident. CHP West Valley then transferred custody of the suspect back to CHP Ventura.
