Israel's deliberate killing of Palestinian aid seekers claims at least 27 lives
GAZA, PALESTINE - JULY 12, 2025: At least 27 Palestinians were killed and 180 others injured when Israeli forces opened fire on civilians waiting for humanitarian aid north of Rafah city in southern Gaza, according to medical sources. Eyewitnesses said Israeli troops fired directly at crowds gathered near the Al-Shakoush aid distribution point, where hundreds had assembled in hopes of receiving food and basic supplies amid worsening famine conditions in the besieged enclave. Since May 27, the number of aid seekers killed by Israeli fire has risen to 809, with 5,249 others wounded, according to Gaza officials. At least 41 people remain missing, the Gaza government’s media office said in a statement issued Thursday. The so-called "Gaza Humanitarian Aid Foundation" backed by the U.S. and Israel, has been criticized by Palestinian officials and international observers as a death trap. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, 2023, killing over 57,800 Palestinians so far, most of them women and children. The relentless bombardment has destroyed the enclave and led to food shortages and the spread of diseases. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
