This is the funny moment a boy plunged through the gap in a wooden pier while watching the sunset with friends.

The youngster was taking visitors around the shore but failed to spot a missing board on wooden structure in Bibinoi Village in North Maluku, Indonesia, on August 4.

Footage shows the child walking along the dilapidated structure before unknowingly stepping into the large gap between planks.

He plunged down the opening and had to be rescued by the tourists. He suffered several scratches on the arms and legs but was not seriously hurt, laughing it off with his companion afterwards.

Onlooker Yusti said: ‘We went there for school research and helped with local development projects.

‘When we were done, we went to the old pier with the kids just enjoying the view but the boy fell.'
