Pennsylvania Soldiers Return Home After Yearlong Africa Deployment

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 111th Infantry Regiment, 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team were welcomed home at Harrisburg International Airport on July 10 after a yearlong deployment to Africa.

The troops were greeted by family, friends, and senior Pennsylvania National Guard leaders, including Maj. Gen. John Pippy, The Adjutant General of Pennsylvania, and Maj. Gen. Laura McHugh, Deputy Adjutant General-Army.

The deployment was part of ongoing U.S. military operations supporting regional security and partnership development in Africa. The homecoming marked a moment of celebration and reflection for the returning soldiers and their loved ones.
