A tugboat skipper allegedly rammed a moored fishing vessel in Russia.

Footage shows the 170ft watercraft Solveiga, with its nets stacked on the quayside, docked at the port of Nakhodka in Primorsky Krai on July 1.

From across the bay, a tugboat named Bikin was seen approaching the Russian-registered Solveiga, initially appearing to assist in moving the vessel out to sea.

However, as the tug neared, it did not slow down and collided broadside with the GBP 1 million fishing boat with considerable force.

The impact pushed the Solveiga against the quay, causing it to rock from end to end.

Later video clip revealed the extent of the damage, showing the ship's hull severely buckled amidships.

Following the collision, the tug reversed and slowly moved away, showing no visible damage.

Local media reported that investigators are considering whether the tugboat captain may have been intoxicated or acting out of a personal dispute with the Solveiga's skipper.

Harbour transport prosecutors have launched an investigation into the incident.
