A fire broke out at a lithium battery factory in Taiwan earlier this morning.

The blaze started around 5 am at the Sanyuan Energy Technology Company, located in the Linhai Industrial Park in Xiaogang District, Kaohsiung City.

Authorities confirmed that at least 46 vehicles and 91 emergency responders were dispatched to battle the flames at the company, which produces batteries for electric motorcycles.

Footage shows emergency crews fleeing the scene just before thick smoke engulfed the area, with one responder seen stumbling to the ground.

Local media reported that 14 people, including four firefighters, sustained abrasions and bruises due to small explosions that occurred during the fire. All were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Sanyuan Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Taiwan Cement Corporation, was established in 2021 and built Taiwan's first super battery factory.
