BOAT SAILING IN RIVER (TWO SHOTS)PARIS, FRANCE - JULY 13, 2025: Parisians have begun swimming in the Seine River once again, enjoying specially designated areas reopened after nearly a century, as part of the city’s ongoing summer initiative. This year’s Paris Plages — the city’s seasonal riverfront transformation — has adopted a Brazilian theme. Inspired by the energy of Rio’s Copacabana, the event features tropical decorations, Brazilian music and dance performances, open-air cinema, and sports activities along the Seine. Organized under the artistic direction of Emilio Kalil, with legendary Brazilian footballer Rai as honorary patron, the event opened on July 5 with a carnival-style parade at Bassin de la Villette. Highlights include batucada drum performances, Brazilian food stalls at Hotel de Ville (July 12–Aug. 20), photography exhibitions, and sports such as beach volleyball and basketball. After a slightly reduced edition during the 2024 Summer Olympics, the “beaches” of Paris Plages are back in full swing for the 2025 season from July 5th through August 31st in three locations: Rives de Seine (Central Paris along the Right Bank of the Seine), Canal Saint-Martin (10th arrondissement), and Bassin de La Villette (northeast Paris at the top of the Canal St Martin).
