This is the heartwarming moment an excited pet dog tried to comfort a crying child in China.

Footage captured by Ms Luo shows the brown Chow Chow puppy jumping onto the boy, who was lying on the floor in a living room in Guangan, Sichuan.

The lively pup can be seen sniffing the visibly upset toddler on June 29.

Ms Luo said: 'The dog wanted to play with my son and accidentally leapt on him. He fell to the ground and started crying in pain, but it still continued to run around him.'

Chow Chows can be surprisingly playful and affectionate with their families, especially when they bond closely from a young age. Despite their dignified appearance, they often enjoy games and gentle interaction with people they trust.
