Referring to Jeffrey Lichtman, the lawyer representing drug trafficker Ovidio Guzman, Sheinbaum firmly stated that she would not engage in dialogue with the attorney of a criminal. Sheinbaum announced that a defamation lawsuit would be filed in Mexico in response to Lichtman’s public statements. Sheinbaum also spoke about a letter received from the Donald Trump administration, which included a threat of imposing 30% tariffs on Mexican exports starting August 1. The president said a government task force is working on an agreement to prevent the measure, and Sheinbaum emphasized Mexico's stance of “coordination, not subordination” in its negotiations with the US.
