Pietrapertosa, Italy - July 12, 2025 On Saturday, July 12, emergency crews carried out a dramatic helicopter rescue after four climbers became stranded on a via ferrata in Pietrapertosa, located in the province of Potenza. The group had been navigating the fixed-route climbing path when they became stuck and unable to continue. Firefighters from the Bari flight unit responded with their helicopter, Drago VF 67. Once the aircraft reached the site, it hovered directly above the climbers in a stationary position. Rescuers were lowered one by one using the helicopter's winch system and safely brought the trapped individuals on board. All four were successfully retrieved and transported to safety without further incident.
