Shuangyashan, China - July 13, 2025 A dramatic rescue unfolded when a worker became trapped in a collapsed trench during a pipeline construction operation in Shuangyashan, Heilongjiang Province. The worker was buried from the chest down in a trench more than two meters deep. A firefighter positioned himself over the trapped man, shielding him from additional falling debris with his own body. Other rescue personnel took turns using shovels and their hands to dig through the heavy earth. At one point, a bystander attempted to assist, but a firefighter urgently shouted, “Don’t come down!” as the site remained extremely dangerous. After more than 40 tense minutes of digging, the worker was safely extracted. He was treated by medical personnel on site and confirmed to be free of life-threatening injuries.
