Storyline: China launches first offshore floating PV project [Voice_over] China's first offshore floating photovoltaic project is now up and running in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao. Unlike a traditional solar farm, where panels are anchored the ground, this facility floats, with PV panels rising and falling with the tide. The project's engineers say they've successfully overcome key challenges like saltwater corrosion, marine biofouling, and tidal fluctuations. An underwater anchoring system can withstand winds of up to Force 13 and adapt to a tidal range of up to 3.5 meters. Covering an area of about 60,000 square meters, the floating PV farm is expected to generate 16.7 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually. [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
