Twitch streamer’s Fortnite meltdown prompts police welfare check
A gaming streamer's neighbours called the police after hearing her screams of frustration through the walls during a livestreamed Fortnite match.
The woman, who goes by her Twitch handle Blacc Yumeko, shrieked in anger after losing a game.
The noise was loud enough to alarm her neighbours and just ten minutes later, there was a knock at her door.
Police had arrived to conduct a welfare check to ensure she was safe and not in distress.
A funny clip shows Yumeko sheepishly explaining the situation, assuring the officers that she was fine - she had just lost a game of Fortnite.
Blacc Yumeko, 26, a Twitch streamer from Virginia, US, said: "When I saw the police at the door I literally thought 'What the freak?!'"
"I've been having a bit of a tough time personally so at first I thought a friend had called them and not a neighbour."
"It was only after they explained that a neighbour had alerted them that I made a connection with my earlier reaction."
Yumeko was playing Fortnite Zero Build Battle Royale and had been waiting for a win after a tough day.
She managed to kill one of her opponents, but whilst she was celebrating, her character itself was killed.
The frustration of this led Yumeko to scream at a very high pitch, which is what alerted her neighbours to call the police.
Yumeko was playing Fortnite Zero Build Battle Royale, hoping for a win after a tough day.
She managed to eliminate one opponent but while celebrating her own character was taken out.
Frustrated, Yumeko let out a high-pitched scream - loud enough that it prompted her neighbours to call the police.
Yumeko said: "I was having a really bad day and just wanted to win anything. "
"I finally felt better and lost everything within a matter of seconds."
"To make it even worse because usually I never emote after I get a kill."
"But was shown immediately how wrong I was."
After Yumeko's neighbours raised the alarm, two officers were dispatched.
Doorbell camera footage shows Yumeko explaining what happened to the officers to which one responded "Well, good thing you're still alive."
Yumeko said: "I asked the officers to come inside if they wanted to make sure I wasn't hurting anyone or myself."
"But I guess by my willingness to cooperate and explaining what happened to them honestly helped them feel OK leaving me with a warning. "
"I just thought it was hilarious because I'm a grown woman who has the police called on her because I died in Fortnite."
