Footage shows shocking moment town centre building collapses in massive blaze
Drone footage has captured the shocking moment the walls of a town centre building collapsed during a massive blaze.
The fire began around 9:30pm last night (Mon) in Kilmarnock's town centre, ripping through businesses.
Six fire engines attended the scene, where there were thankfully no injuries.
Footage captured by local Callum Wallace shows the shocking moment walls of the burning building collapsed, as firefighters attempted to contain the blaze.
"I was in the house, when one of my friends said to me there was something going on in the town," he said. "I had my drone with me and flew it up - and it was just chaos."
"There were embers flying everywhere - the smoke was just billowing out. Just as I started recording, I saw the building just falling in."
"I've never seen anything like it - it was like something you'd see in movies."
"I've seen people in local Facebook groups saying they're out of a job now."
"I hope they can recover from this - it's not ideal for people to be put out of jobs in this economy."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We were alerted to the blaze, which took hold at the rear of the building on King Street, at 8.58pm."
"Two appliances and a height appliance were initially dispatched to the scene. "
"A total of six appliances and two specialist units are now in attendance."
"We are still in attendance. There are currently no reports of any injuries."
