Palestine terror group supporters arrested in UK crackdown
Supporters of a Palestinian terror group were arrested in a nationwide crackdown across the United Kingdom.
A total of 86 individuals were detained in cities across the country on July 12 for displaying signs expressing support for Palestine Action, which was recently designated a terrorist organisation by the UK government.
The arrests took place just one week after the group's proscription, and involved coordinated police operations in London, Manchester, Cardiff, Derry, Leeds, and Kendal.
Among those apprehended were four vicars, a lawyer, a civil servant, a social worker, a mechanical engineer, the daughter of a Polish resistance fighter, and veteran activists from the 1960s civil rights movement, including Eamon McCann and Kate Nash.
Since the proscription took effect, nearly 120 people have been arrested in the UK in connection with such protests.
Globally, that number rises to nearly 200, including around 80 people detained during a solidarity action in The Hague.
On June 20, Palestine Action claimed responsibility for an incursion into RAF Brize Norton, where two members allegedly broke in and spray-painted military aircraft used for refuelling and transport operations.
Palestine Action said in a statement: 'Despite publicly condemning the Israeli government, Britain continues to send military cargo, fly spy planes over Gaza, and refuel U.S./Israeli fighter jets.
'Britain isn't just complicit, it's an active participant in the Gaza genocide and war crimes across the Middle East.'
Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the incident.
He said: 'The act of vandalism committed at RAF Brize Norton is disgraceful. Our Armed Forces represent the very best of Britain and put their lives on the line for us every day.
'It is our responsibility to support those who defend us.'
