This is the dramatic moment flash floods tore through New York City, turning streets into rivers after torrential rain battered the area

The chaos unfolded on Monday, July 14, 2025 when nearly two inches of rain fell in just 30 minutes - the city's second-highest hourly rainfall total since 1943.

Footage filmed at 90th Street and East End Avenue shows water gushing down the road, overtaking pavements and forcing pedestrians to wade through rising floodwater.

Another video captured a gas station completely submerged, with water pooling around the pumps.

The downpour quickly overwhelmed drainage systems, flooding streets, subways, and major roads across all five boroughs.

Several subway lines were suspended as stations filled with water.
