A flash flood on Bourbon Street in New Orleans turned into an unexpected wildlife parade — complete with a floating banana, a sewer-hopping rat, and a cockroach riding out the storm in a Styrofoam cup.

Tony and his friends were en route to a bar when torrential rain forced them to take shelter inside a pizza shop. As the street outside transformed into a river, they watched in disbelief as debris floated by — including a banana and a rat that leapt from a sewer and darted into a bar across the street.

My friends and I were on our way to a bar on Bourbon Street in New Orleans when it started raining very heavily. We stopped inside a pizza shop to wait out the storm. The street started flooding. We noticed a banana float by, a rat jump out of a sewer and run into a bar across the street, and then we saw this cup floating on the tide. I pulled out my phone and started recording when I noticed the roach inside. It finally made it to shore (the sidewalk) where it took a deep breath and exited the cup and promptly ran up and into a gentleman passerby's pant leg, then exited the pant leg and found shelter in a crack between two buildings.
