An American tourist was injured after being attacked by two ladyboys who were allegedly trying to steal from him in Thailand.

Hysam Moustafa Saber was walking along a deserted alley when he was approached by the two transgender prostitutes offering sex services in the notorious tourist town of Pattaya.

The pair are said to have pressed their surgically attached breasts up against the holidaymaker and fondled him before he noticed they were sliding his wallet out of his pocket in the early hours of the morning.

Hysam confronted them but the violent sex workers reportedly grabbed a rock from the pavement and smashed it against Hysam's head. They then plucked 3,000 baht (92 USD) from his wallet and fled, leaving him bleeding on the street.

A driver who witnessed the alleged attack took Hysam to a hospital for treatment. Sporting a large wound on his head, the tourist appeared at the Pattaya City Police Station to file a report at around 4:26 am.

Recounting the alleged attack, he told officers: ‘I saw they take my money. They took my money, so I said, 'Please give me my money'.

‘They refused, so I said, 'Hey, I will yell if you don't give me'.

'I forgot, I don't know if I yelled first or they give me the wallet and then I told them to go away.'

Police Captain Chanan Kesornbua of the Pattaya City Police Station said: 'We dispatched investigators to the area to gather evidence on the perpetrators and review CCTV footage. We will track them down for prosecution.'

Tourists are regularly attacked or caught up in crime, leading Pattaya to be dubbed 'Sin City'.

Embarrassed officials in the central government have launched tourism initiatives to attract families and rebrand Pattaya as a safe destination.

Authorities have also introduced safety measures, such as improved lighting and CCTV.

Despite some success in cleaning up the town's image, alcohol and sex remain its biggest draws, often leading to a high rate of crime and accidents.
