This is the dramatic moment locals carried a motorcycle across a swollen river in the Philippines.

Residents experienced a waterlogged motorway, prompting them to offer transport services to passing motorists in Talaingod, Davao del Norte.

Footage captured by Juvic Saguing shows volunteer teacher Cristy Jane Capoy waiting on her red bike on the other side of the riverbank on July 15.

Four men placed bamboo poles through the wheel rims of the two-wheeler before lifting it up,while the woman remained seated.

They can be seen carrying the 220 lb (100 kg) motorcycle and the female rider on their shoulders as they carefully wade through knee-deep murky waters.

Juvic said: 'Our school, Paiton Integrated School, is located across a river. There's no bridge, so during rainy days when the river floods, the teachers have no choice but to pay those who carry their motorcycles across.

'These carriers are also students. We pay 50 to 200 PHP (0.66–2.62 GBP) for the service, and they divide the money among themselves. At the very least, we are also able to help our students earn some extra income.'

Cristy is said to be volunteering for 15 days for the National Learning Camp at the school.

In another clip, a green flatbed truck braved the surging river while two brave, topless youngsters attempted to climb aboard.

The teenager in red shorts managed to cling to the edge of the lorry as the vehicle struggled to accelerate across the river, while the other one let go just at the riverbank.

The Philippines and neighbouring Southeast Asian countries are entering their annual monsoon season, marked by soaring temperatures followed by intense rainstorms.

The mountainous region is a remote upland area with rugged terrain and rivers prone to flash floods, making bridge construction technically challenging and costly.

Limited infrastructure often struggles to handle the heavy rainfall, resulting in widespread flash floods.
