US: Marine Honored Underwater At Naval Base Guam On Independence Day

Guam, United States - July 04, 2025 A unique ceremony took place beneath the waves at Gab Gab Beach, Naval Base Guam, on July 4, 2025. At exactly 3:12 PM, ME2 Connor Jewell was presented with his pewter Port Security Unit Insignia 31.2 feet below the water’s surface. ME2 Devyn Trinh-Nguyen pinned the insignia while LT Brent Walker presided over the meaningful underwater event. This ceremony celebrated the long-standing tradition of Port Security Unit 312 on Independence Day. PSU 312 shoreside security members are currently deployed supporting the Navy’s Maritime Expeditionary Security Group One Detachment Guam. Their mission is to provide 360-degree defense aboard special mission ships and other high-value assets in the Seventh Fleet’s operational area. The U.S. Coast Guard remains a vital force bridging defense, diplomacy, and law enforcement to advance national objectives.
