The blaze, which erupted at the main stage area, caused extensive damage ahead of the festival, planned to be held in two separate weekends, from July 18 to 20 and July 25 to 27. Thick smoke from the fire prompted Belgian authorities to advise residents in the surrounding area to keep their doors and windows shut as a precaution. Despite intervention by fire crews, the main stage was left unusable due to the severity of the damage. Each year, Tomorrowland’s main stage is custom-built to reflect a new theme, serving as the centerpiece of the globally attended event. The festival typically attracts around 400,000 attendees from across the world, featuring pyrotechnics and elaborate closing shows. At the time of the fire, approximately 1,000 workers were on-site involved in the stage construction and general preparations for the festival. Writing by Mustafa Tuncer
