VARIOUS OF BURNING AREAS NEAR BORDERSUWAYDA, SYRIA - JULY 16: Hundreds of Druze held a demonstration near the border fence in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Wednesday, July 16, gathering close to the town of Majdal Shams. The protest came in support of fellow Druze in the southern Syrian city of Suwayda, amid recent unrest in the region. Israeli forces were deployed along the border and took security measures to prevent any attempt to cross into Syrian territory. Israel launched airstrikes on Damascus on Wednesday, targeting Syria’s Defense Ministry and areas near the presidential palace. The strikes came as Israel resumed attacks in southern Syria’s Suwayda province, warning they will continue unless Syrian forces withdraw. The Syrian army had deployed troops to the area to restore order after clashes between armed Druze and Bedouin groups killed at least 30 people. The Israeli army claims the operations are meant to protect the Druze minority.
