Storyline: Jordan on Wednesday evacuated 35 sick children from the Gaza Strip to its hospitals for medical treatment, the seventh batch of the 2,000 children who will receive medical treatment in the Kingdom. The evacuation was carried out in coordination with Jordan's Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization. The children, accompanied by 72 family members, were admitted to local hospitals where they will receive care from professional medical teams. The evacuation is part of the Jordanian Medical Corridor initiative, which aims to receive up to 2,000 Palestinian children for medical care. Jordan's King Abdullah II announced in February the country's readiness to receive up to 2,000 Palestinian children from Gaza for treatment. Since the launch of the initiative in March, a total of 112 children and 241 family members have been brought to Jordan for medical care. The seventh batch represents the largest number of evacuees transported in a single operation, according to the Jordanian authorities. "My child lost an eye, and we came here, hoping to receive treatment. I am deeply grateful to everyone. We encountered some difficulties in Gaza at the beginning of our journey, but things improved," said Hussein Halawa, a family member accompanying a child. "Access to things, including medical care, food, water and shelter is uncertain in Gaza. Our main goal of this trip is to receive treatment. I hope this will not be the last medical aid convoy," said Ahmed Haj, another family member traveling with the group. Patients who have completed their treatment will be sent back to Gaza with their families as soon as possible to make room for the next batch of patients, according to the Jordanian government. The Jordanian government has expressed its intention to transfer more patients from Gaza and speed up the process. However, it has also acknowledged that there are limitations to this efforts due to the technical and logistical challenges as well as Israel's restrictions. Shotlist: Jordan - July 16, 2025: 1.
