Disabled hiker becomes 'first to scale Prau Mountain' in Indonesia
A disabled hiker is believed to be the first person with a disability (PWD) to reach the summit of Mount Prau in Indonesia.
Footage shows Mohammad Hikmat, dressed in black long sleeves and a cap, carefully making his way up the peak in the Dieng Plateau, Central Java, on July 11.
Using his hands and a small skateboard-like device to support his movement, he steadily navigated the terrain.
Accompanied by close friends who encouraged and assisted him, Hikmat fulfilled his dream of scaling the mountain despite his physical challenges.
Behind him, the view opened up to tall peaks and a wide sea of clouds beneath a clear blue sky.
Hikmat said: 'Without two legs, I climbed Mount Prau. Not to show off my strength, but to prove that limitations are only in the mind.
'I may be the first disabled climber without two legs there — but hopefully not the last.'
Mount Prau, rising to approximately 2,565 metres above sea level, is renowned for its stunning sunrise views and its sweeping clouds that fill the valleys below, making it a favoured destination for trekkers.
Climbing without legs poses significant challenges, demanding immense upper-body strength, balance, and determination to overcome rugged terrain and steep slopes.
