A leopard and a black panther blocked a family's pickup truck as they roamed freely in a safari park.

Dashcam footage shows the dark-furred big cat leaping onto the bonnet while the terrified passengers cowered inside the vehicle in Kanchanaburi, Thailand on May 16.

The captive animal sniffed around the windshield before climbing onto the roof and eventually jumping off.

Shortly after, as the family tried to drive forward, a leopard blocked their path and climbed onto the back of the truck, preventing them from moving again.

The father said: ‘I joked about locking the doors in case the leopard tried to open them. I was shocked when the animals leapt onto our truck.'

The family had no choice but to stay still and wait for the big cats to leave.
