GAZA, PALESTINE - JULY 17, 2025: At least five Palestinians were killed and many others injured on Thursday, July17, in an Israeli airstrike targeting a school sheltering displaced people in the Bureij Refugee Camp, in the central Gaza Strip. Footage captured the moment an Israeli strike hit the Abu Helou School, which had also been targeted earlier on July 8. Separately, at least 22 more Palestinians were killed and dozens injured in a new wave of Israeli airstrikes across the besieged enclave on the same day, according to medical sources. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a genocidal war against Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 58,600 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
