Bakersfield, United States - July 18, 2025 07/17/2025 10:11 pm GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A multi-agency police pursuit involving a red sedan began late Thursday night in Oildale. The Kern County Sheriff’s Department attempted to pull over the vehicle at the intersection of North Chester and Beardsley streets. The driver fled, prompting a lengthy pursuit. The California Highway Patrol joined the chase and employed the PIT maneuver on at least two occasions, along with the use of spike strips to disable the sedan. After approximately an hour, the vehicle crashed into a pole near Stockdale Highway and California Avenue. The suspect initially disregarded officers' commands but was ultimately taken into custody after resisting arrest. The situation remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, which is also looking into multiple possible traffic collisions involving civilian vehicles that occurred during the chase.
