Los Angeles, United States - July 18, 2025 07/17/2025 05:14 pm GMT-0700 SOUTH PARK, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Los Angeles firefighters responded to a report of an outdoor fire Thursday morning on the 5400 block of South Avalon Boulevard. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a shed and approximately 100 pallets of hand sanitizer burning in an outdoor storage area. Due to the high alcohol content in the hand sanitizer, crews allowed the product to burn while also working to create barriers around storm drains using sand to prevent any environmental runoff. Firefighters were focused on protecting an adjacent commercial building from the blaze. Arson investigators from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived on the scene to assess the cause of the fire, but officials report there is currently nothing suspicious pointing toward arson. No injuries to firefighters or the public have been reported. Sixty-six firefighters actively worked at the scene, continuing to monitor the fire throughout the night and into the early morning.
