Yemen - July 17, 2025 The Yemeni National Resistance Forces (NRF), led by General Tareq Saleh, have successfully intercepted the largest shipment of Iranian advanced conventional weapons in their history. The NRF seized over 750 tons of military materials, including hundreds of cruise missiles, anti-ship and anti-aircraft missiles, warheads, seekers, drone engines, radar systems, air defense equipment, and communication systems. According to the NRF, Farsi-language manuals were discovered with the shipment. Many of the weapons and components were reportedly manufactured by a company affiliated with the Iranian Ministry of Defense, which is under United States sanctions. The intercepted cargo was allegedly intended for the Iranian-backed Houthi forces. The NRF's actions are in support of the United Nations Security Council Resolution and reflect their commitment to the safety of Yemen, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden. General Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of CENTCOM, praised the NRF, stating, “We commend the legitimate government forces of Yemen who continue to interdict the flow of Iranian munitions bound for the Houthis. The interdiction of this massive Iranian shipment shows that Iran remains the most destabilizing actor in the region. Limiting the free flow of Iranian support to the Houthis is critic to regional security, stability, and freedom of navigation.”
