This is the moment a python stuck inside a motorcycle was rescued by firefighters in Indonesia.

A motorist noticed the 13ft (4m) reticulated python nestled in the front fairing in Tangerang, Banten Province.

This prompted the terrified vehicle owner to call the fire department to remove the predator from the compartment on July 12.

Footage shows officials yanking the stubborn reptile coiled on the wires before taping the animal's mouth.

The men eventually managed to capture the 55lbs (25kg) python and laid it on the ground.

Imam, Platoon Commander of the South Tangerang City Fire Department Rescue Team, said: 'Residents didn't dare to remove it. Judging by its tail, the snake seemed large.

'We suspect the snake came from a garden near the residential area. After the rescue, we handed the snake over to a reptile enthusiast community.'

Pythons are non-venomous constrictors known for ambushing prey and wrapping around it to suffocate it.

These snakes sometimes stray into residential areas in search of food, especially during the hot season when their natural habitats are disturbed.
