This is the shocking moment a pensioner crashes his car into a supermarket in Brazil.

CCTV footage shows the car attempting to park when it suddenly accelerates, reportedly with the driver's wife inside, in Parana, Brazil.

The vehicle tears through the store's entrance, shattering the glass doors and sending one man flying through the air.

The video then shifts to a different angle, showing the car striking the man, who was identified as a security guard, before continuing through the store.

The vehicle then hits two unmanned tills, ploughs through an aisle, and finally comes to a halt amid a mess of debris and goods.

Onlookers quickly rush to assist the security guard and the couple as the footage comes to an end.

Local media reports indicate that the officer sustained minor injuries but is recovering well. Neither the driver nor his wife was injured.

Authorities believe the motorist accidentally mixed up the pedals on July 16.
