Mother, 45, killed in horror accident when head is crushed between lift and wall
A mother was killed in a horrific accident when her head was crushed between a lift and a wall.
Koi, 45, was using the device to carry goods from the ground floor to the top of the four-storey car parts warehouse in Bangkok, Thailand.
But the elevator malfunctioned and jolted her forward. She then fell into the narrow gap between the platform and the wall.
Her head was crushed as her legs were left dangling into the shaft. Blood poured from her wound onto the floor below.
A worker who was also in the lift with Koi at the same time managed to escape. He said she was killed instantly.
Narong said: 'I panicked and jumped away, but Koi fell to the side of the lift. I heard her scream and then saw blood everywhere. She was dead before I could help.'
Koi's body was later found lodged between the lift and the shaft wall.
Paramedics and rescue workers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation are arriving at the building to assist with the recovery operation.
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage, examining the lift, and speaking with witnesses to determine whether mechanical failure, human error, or lack of maintenance caused the incident.
Captain Nutthapon from the Samran Rat district police station said that forensic officers had checked the building.
He added: 'We are interrogating the owner of the builder to check whether they had the correct documentation for operating the lift.
'It was not intended to carry humans, only heavy goods. This is likely to have been a factor it why it broke with the people inside.'
