BABY'S BODY BEING CARRIED FOR BURIALGAZA, PALESTINE - JULY 19: A three-month-old Palestinian baby has died of starvation in southern Gaza on Saturday, July 19, amid Israel’s ongoing genocidal war and total blockade that have cut off food and medicine from the besieged enclave. Yahya Fadi al-Najjar, from Khan Younis, succumbed to malnutrition after months of limited access to essential aid. His grieving family laid him to rest on Saturday, as health officials warned of a rising toll among children trapped by the conflict. The tightened blockade has pushed Gaza’s fragile health system to collapse, with hospitals struggling to treat even the most vulnerable patients. Palestinian authorities stated that since October 7, 2023, the number of children who have died due to malnutrition has exceeded 70, and the total number of Palestinians who have lost their lives due to food and medicine shortages has reached 620. Officials reported that currently, 650,000 children are at risk of death due to malnutrition and hunger, and approximately 60,000 pregnant women face serious danger due to lack of access to food and healthcare services. International organizations continue to appeal for an immediate end to the siege to allow desperately needed food, water, and medical supplies into the besieged Gaza Strip. Israel has killed nearly 59,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. The military campaign has destroyed the enclave, collapsed the health system and led to severe food shortages. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
