Phoenix, United States - July 20, 2025 07/19/2025 11:37 pm GMT-0700 CHANDLER, Ariz. – According to information gathered at the scene, Phoenix police observed a Corvette driving recklessly at a high rate of speed on the I-10 eastbound near University Drive. Officers attempted to catch up to the vehicle to initiate a traffic stop, but struggled due to the driver's reckless driving behavior. The Phoenix Police Department helicopter arrived overhead and began assisting in tracking the Corvette. Eventually, Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers were notified and positioned ahead of the Corvette, allowing them to catch up to the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop. The driver took off from the trooper, and a pursuit was initiated. Shortly after, the pursuit was terminated as the driver exited the freeway and continued to drive recklessly on surface streets. Troopers and Phoenix police fell back and tracked the suspect using the Phoenix Police Department helicopter as they worked to devise a plan to stop the car. Tactical Support Bureau (TSB) units from Phoenix police began responding to the area. The driver re-entered the freeway and transitioned onto the San Tan L-202 before exiting at Alma School Road and then attempted to re-enter the freeway. The Corvette began to stop at the end of the on-ramp as police and troopers converged on the vehicle. Officers and troopers ordered the driver out of the car and took him into custody.
